Invited by the “Routes in Marpissa” festival, Beforelight group traveled to the island of Paros and illuminated the picturesque alleys of Marpissa in a special way that activated the residents and brought back to life the unique corners of the village.

Marpissa remains an unchanged Cycladic settlement with narrow streets and small squares springing between whitewashed houses and churches. Beforelight created bright buoys in the labyrinthine village.

During the “Routes in Marpissa” festival, residents and festival volunteers had the opportunity to make their own bright “jewel” that adorned the alleys of Marpissa. A workshop took place before the festival, different light sources and construction materials were provided, and the participants made their own compositions, each signing their own lighting fixture.
