Beforelight group participates again into the festive transformation of SNFCC Park, with the light and sound installation “Xmas Beacon Lights”.

Rotating beacon lights, placed along the cobs of the green roofs on the top of the National Library building, create an interactive path to the Lighthouse of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. A constantly moving light “field”, sometimes brighter, sometimes darker, accompanies the ascent of visitors. Through the visitors’ movement, the beacon lights are activated in zones, and the landscape is transformed.

The installation combines the dark with the festive, the feeling of “game” together with the feeling of alertness through the fast rotation of the beacon lights and the intense color that is diffused in the cob field. The experience of the installation is completed with the accompaniment of a transforming soundscape, which composes quirky melodies from familiar Christmas sounds, along with varied sounds from the physical site of the installation.
